Am I too serious?

Ever since I can remember I have had dreams of growing up and having a job, getting married, and having kids.  I was like the girl in 13 going on 30.  lol  And even in high school and college I was the responsible one, the one who kept things together and made plans happen.  Did I waste away my youth?  Part of me asks that of myself, but most of the time I just keep thinking "you know, that's just who I am."  I didn't need to go out to the bar to have fun, I didn't need to go to frat parties in college all the time.  I don't need to go have drinks every Friday and Saturday night.

I guess where this kind of came about is from someone who tells me I'm too serious and need to be more "sassy".  Whatever that's supposed to mean....  Maybe I am serious, but I am professional and respectful.  When the timing is appropriate I am very laid back, as anyone who knows me would tell you.  I guess I just need to stop letting her get to me.

I am so glad tomorrow is Friday!  The weekend is definitely my favorite time of the week now, because I can actually relax and not stress about work.  This weekend I am going to have tea with my Grandma and my Aunt.  The community that my Grandma lives in has these mother-daughter 'tea parties' and this will be the first one I will be going to.  My mom and sisters have been before, so I am glad I will be able to go this time!  It will be nice to talk to both my Grandma and Aunt this weekend.  The rest of the weekend I'll be hanging out with Grant.  Nothing planned, and we'll probably just stay home since we were out most of last weekend.

Next week is Valentine's Day folks!  :-P  Not only am I excited to spent the evening with Grant, but that day I got signed up to go to this seminar.  My dad emailed me about it; I can actually get certified as an AutoCAD and Revit Architecture specialist.  So on the 14th I will go to the seminar, and figure out what all the exam entails, and freshen up on the programs a little.  Plus its free and they're providing lunch!  yay!  I dunno what will happen that night, but I have a few little things for Grant and I am going to make some cupcakes for us Monday night to bring over on Tuesday.

Have a Happy Friday!  Till next time...

I get way too excited about holidays!

Today has been a pretty normal day; nothing too dramatic to report here at work.  Tomorrow I am going to have to stay late for an event that they're having, but hopefully it will be more fun than stressful.

Okay, so we all know what holiday is coming up; Valentine's Day.  Some people hate it, some people love it, and I happen to be somewhat partial to it.  Its great to dedicate a day to the people you love, but you shouldn't just do it on this day, you need to let those people in your life know how much you love them EVERY DAY.  I do however do excited about the opportunity to get something special or be creative in gifting things.  Valentine's day for me is a great time to do fun crafting type things and some baking.  So I plan on doing some of that in this next week, so it's all ready for next Tuesday.  I will share the goodies with you next week, as to not spoil the surprise!  :)

Another planning thing that I am SUPER excited for is my bestest best friend Janelle.  I am a little too excited when it comes to planning events and what not.  I just love to organize everything, and make people have a good time.  So when Janelle asked me to be her maid of honor (besides the feeling of a bit of shock since I was not expecting her to ask me when we met up for lunch before Thanksgiving) I was ecstatic.  I can't wait for her to be back here in KC so we can get together and talk about ideas, and just HANG OUT!  I miss that girl!  :-P

Well that's all for today...  Just keep pushing through till the end of the week!  We'll make it through!

Music makes my world go 'round

Oh how I love my music.  Isn't it funny how some songs and some lyrics just move you?  Maybe I'm just a little too emotional about my music, but I love the way I feel when listening to songs that make my heart ache or make me jump for joy.  Music is definitely something I run to when I'm having a bad day or something.  Since tonight has been a little stressful, I have definitely taken advantage of this free time to listen to some music.

I am not only a digital music lover (like most of us are these days) but I also love listening to my ever-growing vinyl collection.  I know people don't believe this when we say this, but they really do just sound so much better.  Its more of an experience than it is just listening to one track at a time through a digital copy.  If the artist has thought about his or her 'journey' through the album it will flow through smoothly; and that is what I LOVE about a good record.  Now I know I must sound like a hippy, but hey.  I'm going to keep listening to my records and enjoying them.

So this post is pretty random, but I wanted to get my mind off of things and talk about something that calms me down and keeps me sane.  I will try and have a better and longer post soon.  For now I'm going to continue to listen to my music and try and get some much needed sleep.

The Weekend

So the weekend is coming to a close and I am currently watching the super bowl.  We didn't end up turning it on until about the start of the 2nd quarter.  I made tortellini with creamy pesto tonight, along with some chicken.  It was pretty good.  Grant is in the kitchen making some banana bread (per my request, and the current state of his bananas  lol).  While I'm just sitting here 'watching' the game I thought I would write my update for the weekend.

Friday night Grant and I went to Lucky Brewgrille in Mission.  This is the second time I've been there, and it was really good this time as well.  Last time we went they had a live band, so the atmosphere was totally different this time.  After dinner we went to the movies and saw The Grey.  It was a pretty good movie, although I wasn't really happy with the ending.  I won't spoil it for you though, but I would suggest you to go and see it!

Saturday a friend of mine told me that Restoration Emporium was having its Grand Opening, so we made our way down to the West Bottoms to do some antiquing.  Although Grant was probably less than thrilled about this trip I think he had a good time, and he got a cupcake out of the deal.  lol  There was some cool stuff at the stores we went to, but I didn't feel the need to buy anything.  I really just enjoy walking around and looking at all the old things that may or may not remind me of things from my childhood.  It's nice that there are so many antique stores all right there in one area.  Once we made the rounds at all of the shops in the West Bottoms, we made a stop at River Market Antiques.  The only place now that I haven't been to in that area is Good Juju, so I'll have to hit that up on a First Friday when that starts up in the spring.

Today I went to Target to see the new Jason Wu collection.  Let's just say I was less than impressed.  I tried on a couple shirts and a few dresses, but none of them were like 'wow I have to get this'.  The pinks are just not good with my skin tone, and the blue and red dress I liked in the add just did not look good on me.  I feel like a lot of his stuff was designed for women who are stick thin (which that's what he's used to doing for runway shows anyway).  O well.  While I was at Target I was able to get Grant's Valentine's gift.  I still need to get stuff to make cupcakes or cookies, I haven't decided which yet.  I hope he likes it.  I know its not much, but we decided we didn't wanna make it a big deal.  Not sure what we will do for dinner yet, but we've got a little over a week still.

Well I'm going to enjoy the rest of my Sunday night, and I hope you all do the same!  Here's to a Happy Monday!  :)

Thank Goodness it's FRIDAY!!!

Okay, so I am sooo happy it is Friday, and I only have 3 more hours of work at this point in the day. So just like the forecast said, its raining today, and its to keep raining the rest of the day and most of Saturday it looks like.  boo!  I really was hoping for nice weather, and Grant and I could have maybe done something outside.  Oh well...  Tonight we're going to go catch a movie, which we haven't done in a while so it should be fun.  I don't know a whole lot about the movie we're going to see, so I hope its good.  It's got pretty good ratings so far, and it does have Liam Neeson in it.

Not sure what we will do on Saturday, but I'm content with just lounging around the house really.  Working full time, especially in a place where I seem to be stressed or dealing with stupid drama, is really wearing me down.  And yesterday was just exactly that, stressful and full of drama.  Today hasn't really been so bad (for me anyway) since my boss has been in meetings all day so far.

That's all for now.  Not really feeling inspired to write anything else, so there will be an update sometime this weekend.  Until then...
