100 Day Photo Challenge: Day 32

Day 32 - A picture of what you did today.

Today I was at work like every Wednesday.  Having this new job has been so great, and I really love all the people I work with and what I do on a daily basis.  Plus the atmosphere is so great; I mean doesn't my view look pretty good?  :)  I love all the Knoll classic pieces, and I get to be surrounded by them every day!  Keeping very busy, which is good!  I hate not having things to do...  I feel like I am fitting in nicely, and getting to learn a lot every day.

Megan

100 Day Photo Challenge: Day 26

Day 26 - A picture of something that means a lot to you.

I love, love.  It is what keeps me going most of the time; just knowing that you are loved and you love people can mean so much.  I know it means a lot to me!  There are so many people that I love in my life, and am thankful for those relationships weather it be family or friends.  :)

100 Day Photo Challenge: Day 19

Day 19 - A picture of you when you were little.

I absolutely love looking at old baby photos, and old family photos!  It just brings back so many good memories and good feelings.  I get nostalgic a lot and like to think back to those special times in my life.  This is a picture of me at my aunt's house I think...  I was a pretty darn cute baby if I do say so myself.  lol

Today was a pretty good day; I got to work on some more drawings for them and I sat in a meeting for a big client they have and got a little more familiar with some of their current projects.  Tomorrow I am going to Chicago! I am super excited to see more about the products I use at work, and meet some more new people!  :)  I have to get up suuuper early, so I need to do a few things and then get to bed early.  I'm off!

Best,
Megan

100 Day Photo Challenge: Day 12

Day 12 - A picture of something you love.

My lovely boyfriend!  I'm sure he's just thrilled that I'm writing about him again, and I don't mean to talk too much about my personal life on here, but I can't help it when we spend most of our time together.  I love him so very much!  I am so glad that we were lucky enough to find each other, and have been happy with each other ever since.  It feels a little bit like a whirlwind this past year, and since we were partially long distance it made things even harder on us, but we made it through.  Now that we see each other pretty much every day things are still going strong.  We still talk to each other every single morning, day, and night.  I'm so glad that my personal life is so much better than my professional life right now.  lol  But I do think I will be getting a real job very soon.  Grant has been really great with comforting me when I get down about those sort of things, and encouraging me to find leads about jobs and what not.  He is the best thing for me now and always.  I love him!  :)  So I think that's probably enough gushing for now, and I'm sure I've embarrassed him enough for the day so I am going to end it here.

Time to get some work done...  until next time!

Megan

100 Day Photo Challenge: Day 05

Day 05 - A picture of you and the person you've had the best memories with.

This was May or June of last year, at Les Bourgeois Winery in Rocheport, Missouri

I have had a lot of good memories with a lot of great people throughout my life.  And even though I have only known Grant for a little over a year now, I feel like I have known him a lifetime.  We have had so many great memories together over this past year and I know that we have many more memories to come!  I am constantly reminded of how lucky we are to of found each other, and how amazing of a man he is.  We love to spend time with each other and be around each other as much as possible.  In the beginning we didn't get to see each other much, so those were the days or weekends that I would treasure most.  About once a month we would see each other in either Columbia or Kansas City.  Now that we live nearly 20 minutes away from each other we are really able to spend so much more time together which we both are loving.  Going through a period of distance between us was tough, but getting through that meant that we had something there worth fighting for.  I love him so very much!

This is us right after we got home from Easter with Grant's family.  :)  We are pretty darn
cute together if I do say so myself.

If I wasn't so exhausted from the event I had tonight after work, I would write a lot more but I am tired and going to spend time with my Grant before I pass out.  Good night everyone!  Friday is almost here! :-P  Until next time...

Megan

Thinking about getting my hair cut soon...

So glad we're half way through the week!  yay!  Tomorrow should fly by since I have plenty to work on at work tomorrow.  Friday I will only be in the office half the day since I have an appointment that afternoon.  I am excited for the weekend.

Lately I have been really wanting to get a hair cut.  It is loooong past due for one anyway.  My hair right now is the longest its been since like elementry probably.  And its kind of getting on my nerves.  I love that it is so wavy/curly now, but since my hair is on the thicker side having it this long is just a hastle.  Most days I just wrap it up in a bun and forget about it.  I really love wearing my hair down, but when its this long it just gets in the way.  Sooo  I am trying to decide how I wanna go with this.  I don't know if I want to go too short, because it would be a little too much of a shock and I don't think I look great with short hair.  I don't want my curls/waves to go away either, which sometimes happens with a shorter length.  Here are some photos of what I'm thinking about doing...

I dunno, looks like I'm leaning towards getting it at about shoulder length.  Just to be safe I don't wanna go any shorter...  I hope to get my hair cut this weekend while I'm in Nevada, but we'll see if I have any time to do that.  Advice or opinions are welcomed!  :-)  Well I think I'm going to try and get a few things straightened up and get ready for bed.  I'm getting old and need my rest.  lol

Its been a little while...

Sooo this week has been pretty full of events and what not.  I updated you last Tuesday about the concert I had went to.  Well on Wednesday I had a meeting with a client at work (along with my boss and a few other designers).  I am so glad I am actually on a project right now.  It gives me something to actually look forward to when I go in to work.  After work on Wednesday I went to my first WID-KC meeting.  Women In Design - Kansas City is a great organization that I've just begun to be involved with and I hope to meet many more people through this organization. Wednesday was the "Speed Networking" meeting, so I got to talk to very many women in just a short amount of time.  I really wish I could of had more time to talk to some of them.  This next Friday is the next meeting, and we will be at the Monster Drawing Rally which is part of the First Fridays series here in the Crossroads District of KC. Since its a more public event, I'm going to bring Grant along and it should be a real fun night!

Thursday I was at HNTB shadowing a designer for the Mentoring week IIDA hosts every year.  It was really great to be in their office and see the kinds of projects they do.  Their firm is exactly like the firm I have envisioned myself being at eventually; not to mention a great location in downtown KC.  Friday I went to the dentist for my routine check up.  So that day was pretty laid back, and I didn't really have to worry about getting anything done.  Grant and I went out to dinner that night, and also did some window shopping.  Saturday was a lazy day, we spent most of the day playing video games and watching movies/tv shows.  I'm loving having those kinds of days, but on Sunday I definitely didn't want to just waste away at home again.  We got up and went to the Nelson around lunch time.  Grant had only been there one time before, so me being a very well seasoned veteran of the museum was nice.  lol  They had changed up some of the exhibits since my last visit, but I definitely remembered where a lot of things were.  It was so nice today that we even walked around the sculpture park outside.  I just felt like laying out in the grass and soaking up the sun, but I didn't.  We went back home and played some more video games, then decided on what we wanted for dinner and got some groceries.  Tonight I made mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, french loaf toast, and we got a rotisserie chicken.  It was pretty good, and Grant even did the dishes for me after dinner.  :)

This week I don't really have much going on other than work, so I hope to do some more posts!  Next weekend Grant and I will be in Nevada, because our parents are going to be meeting each other for the first time.  yikes!  lol  I think it will go really great!  We are both excited about it.  :)

Well, we're going to finish watching the Celebrity Apprentice tonight.... so until next time

We had a pretty good Valentine's Day!

So my Valentine's Day started out early.  I signed up to go to this free seminar at Mid-West CAD for Revit
Architecture.  It is a program that I used a TON in school, and really LOVE using!  Many firms are making the switch to Revit, so it's important for me to have the skills that I have with this program.  At Mid-West CAD they offer a certification exam, which is what I'm striving towards.  Their next exam session isn't until April, so I may do some classes to "study up" for the exam.  Just one more positive thing for my resume!  :)

That started at 8am and went till about 4pm (which we got out early actually which was nice!  it was kind of a long day of info).  We got to see a live demonstration of the program, which she covered a lot of the basic components of the program.  The rest of the day was primarily videos shown from AU (otherwise known as Autodesk University).  This is a great website for video tutorials and help from any of the Autodesk programs.  I am really excited to go to classes and learn even more through this company.  Everyone there was so great and helpful!  Getting my certification in Revit would be awesome!  (and they also offer AutoCAD certification that I am probably going to get as well!  :D)

After the seminar was over, I drove over to Grant's place to get things ready for dinner.  I had to run by the grocery store to get a few more things to make the lasagna.  The lasagna I made last night was AMAZING! lol  not to brag, but it was really good!  I really wanted to take pictures of each step, but I kinda forgot about it and all I had was my cell phone to take pictures with (not the best camera on that thing  lol) so bare with the quality of the photos.

These are the cupcakes I made Monday night.  They're just chocolate cake, with pink vanilla icing.  Some of them have red sugar sprinkles on them.  They were pretty delicious!  :)

Basically I just followed the directions on the back of the lasagna noodles, and added my own twist on it.  The picture above has the ground italian chicken layer.  The recipe called for italian sausage, but I used the ground turkey with onions and spinach.  So good!

This is the cheese layer.  Right before you but on the cheese and meat layer you put on the noodles.  It has 2 eggs well blended, shredded mozzarella, and some ricotta cheese, just like the directions.  Unlike the directions, I also added cottage cheese, and some creamy pesto mix (the dry sauce mix you can by at the grocery store).  I think this added a lot to the flavor.

This is the last layer (besides the shredded cheese on top).

In the oven it goes, for 60-70 minutes.  This time I got the oven ready noodles, which made it SUPER EASY.  Just put it all together and throw it in the oven!  yay!

Oh, and I made some chocolate covered strawberries too.  yum!  Getting everything all set up for dinner...

So these pictures came out pretty terrible, but it was really cute when I got it all put together.  I made a little "coupon book" for Grant.  There's all kinds of things like "one night of a home cooked meal", or a "weekend full of me doing a chore of your choice", etc.  I don't think he was expecting me to make anything, but I think he liked it.  :)  I can't help but be crafty sometimes.

Everything is ready, and in about 5 minutes after taking this photo Grant got home from work.  Perfect timing!  Last night was so great!  We just stayed in, and enjoyed each others company.  I had been wanting to watch Water for Elephants for a while now, so Grant agreed to watching it with me last night.

Today on the other hand wasn't the best.  I don't wanna vent on here really, but this job is killing me and my spirit.  Must get a new job soon...  Well, I'm going to get some laundry done tonight, so until next time.

Half way through the week! yes!

So today was another normal day at my job.  Today a girl that used to be an intern came back to start part time as a designer.  This morning was a little rough trying to find things to do.  For some reason today, I really just felt kind of beaten down.  This job is wearing on me I guess.  I really want to find a new job, and hopefully going to these events through IIDA and WID-KC will help with meeting lots of people.  The next events I'm going to are specifically for networking, so that is a plus!

Tomorrow Grant is coming over to have dinner with my dad and I.  This weekend I'm going to stay in town with Grant and probably just relax.  Of course since the weather has been AMAZING during the week, there has to be a forecast for rain this weekend.  I really can't complain; 60 degree weather in the end of January and beginning of February is RARE!  I do have plans for Sunday though!  Yes, this Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday, but neither of the teams are ones that I really care about so I may or may not watch the game.  If I do it will be more for the commercials, which I can watch online later anyway.  But my real big plan for Sunday February 5th, is to go to Target for the new Jason Wu line!  I have see some of the previews and the commercial, and it looks like some cute stuff!  And if it's anything like the craze for the Missomo (or however u spell it, which was really ugly in my opinion) stuff, it is probably going to sell out fast.  Below is the preview images, and a link to their site.

I really like this dress!  Cute clean lines and kind of retro.

Hope you guys have a good rest of your week, and an even better weekend!
